Around a third of adults in the UK have high blood pressure, but many will not realise it.

High blood pressure (also known as hypertension) rarely has noticeable symptoms. But if untreated, it increases your risk of serious problems such as heart attacks and strokes.

The only way to find out if you have high blood pressure is to have your blood pressure checked. Getting this done is easy and could save your life.

Your local pharmacy can check your blood pressure, or you can check yourself at home with a cheap and easy to use monitor.

Once you have checked your blood pressure, you can check out what the results might mean for you by using the NHS blood pressure checker.

This checker will also provide advice and guidance on what action to take based on your results as well as provide helpful tips on lifestyle changes you can make to lower your blood pressure, if needed.

There is also lots of resources and information available on the Blood Pressure UK website on how to lower your risk of high blood pressure.

More information is available at High blood pressure (hypertension) - One Devon
